Boulder council awards landmark status to home of architect!

Last week in Boulder the council awarded landmark statues to the home of architect Charles Haertling!

550 College Ave., designed by architect Charles Heartling, is receiving landmark status.

Charles Haertling built the home first in 1968 for University of Colorado professor Richard Wilson and artist Helen Wilson, his wife. Unfortunately in 1973 the house was set fire by an arsonist, and the Wilsons sold the burnt home to Charles Haertling.

Haertling re-built the home, using the original plans, and lived there until his death in  1984. His wife still lives in the home today.

Charles Haertling is no stranger to Boulder homes. He has designed homes there for nearly 30 years. One of his most notable projects is known as the “foam house”, and is located at 3752 Wonderland Hill Ave. This house, was featured in Woody Allen’s sci-fi comedy, “Sleeper”.
